Fishing in Geraldton 

Geraldton is a renowned fishing location with a large variety of species which can be caught off the shore. The Greenough Rivermouth is a popular spot for Bream, Mulloway, Flat Head, Tailor and Herring, with saltwater spots, Point Moore and Separation Point being a crowd favourite for Whiting, Herring and Bream. 

The Abrolhos Islands are also located about 60km off Geraldton Coast, lending the perfect day trip to indulge in island life.

Western Australian Historical Museum and HMAS Sydney II Memorial

Overlooking the Indian Ocean the museum of Geraldton is a must see!  A rich heritage of the land, sea and people of the Midwest. See treasure from four Dutch Shipwrecks in the Shipwreck gallery, and explore Yamaji history and culture. The memorial, completed in 2001, honours the 645 Australian Sailors who were lost off Western Australian cost during World War II. The location of two ships was a mystery for over 65 years, until they were discovered in 2008.

The Pink Lake (Hutt Lagoon)

Just over an hours drive from Geraldton, this iconic pink late is one to add to the itinerary. Due to the presence of a specific algae, the lagoon's colour changes through red, to pink, to lilac depending on the time of day, season and cloud coverage. 

 

St Francis Xavier Cathedral 

A spectacular cathedral in the charismatic city of Geraldton, this church, designed by Monsignor John Hawes, took 22 years to build. Experience it's history with a guided tour which run 4 times per week.

Wildflower Season in June - October

Mullewa (100kms east of Geraldton) boasts over 12,000 species of wildflowers, as the Mullewa Wildflower Walk becomes alive with colour during the winter months. The 3km circuit allows you to soak it all in on the easy to follow trail. 

Experience Chapman River Regional Park in the heart of Geraldton with its magnificent, and often unique native plants. 

Mills Lookout offers a vantage point of views from Chapman Valley and Geraldton, with an abundance of wildflowers to be seen during the season. 

Coalseam Conservation Park known for its expansive fields of pink, white and yellow everlastings, range of wildlife that call the park home including kangaroos, echidnas and emus as well as the site of WA's first coal mine.

Point Moore Lighthouse 

A classic and iconic lighthouse, standing 34m tall against the Geraldton coast. The tallest metal lighthouse in the country, the beam can see around 30km out to see!
