Wajarri Enterprises & Ventia Joint Venture
Wajarri Enterprises Ltd is delighted to announce our joint venture with Ventia.
Ventia is one of the largest essential services providers across Australia and New Zealand specialising in making infrastructure work across communities. The organisation operates in over 400 sites across Australia and New Zealand.
The construction of the SKA-Low telescope infrastructure will result in the largest and most advanced radio telescopes on Earth and will comprise of 131,072 “Christmas tree-shaped” antennas, grouped in 512 stations, each with 256 antennas. Construction has began on the first terrain clearing earth work at Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, the CSIRO Radio-astronomy Observatory in WA.
The initial stage of this project for WEL and Ventia was to construct the camp, where the 200 employees will stay on site.
As the 200-man camp operations will run over the next 4 years, WEL and Ventia are partnering to run the camp operations, including maintenance, catering and day to day operations. This will provide Wajarri people who are looking to return to the workforce or for their first job an exciting new step in employment.
WEL is excited to be partnering with Ventia to manage and operate the 200 man construction camp for the next four years.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to be part of something, particularly in telecommunications and infrastructure that will help with their personal and professional growth for options in the future.” – Ehsan Haque, CEO.
There will also be access to training and mentoring to help with personal growth as well as future employment prospects.
The 50/50 partnership will create a significant number of roles for Wajarri Yamaji people.
